I am organizing a group trip in March for any of our members who’d like to attend the Philadelphia Flower Show. We have also extended this invitation to Lynchburg Garden Club. We have a block of 10 double rooms at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown (hotel website Here) which is connected to the convention center which will help if there is inclement weather. The plan is to take the train (Amtrak) to Philadelphia on Sunday, March 14, 2027 and return Wednesday, March 17 giving us two full days to experience the country’s largest and longest running horticultural event which features stunning displays by the world’s premier floral and landscape designers.

What I secured at the Marriott for the 10 rooms is (two queen beds) for a rate of $239, or roughly $280 with tax per night.  We will provide a link that we share with our members to book the hotel part of the trip. Reservation/payment commitment  from each person through the link (not for us to coordinate) is due by February 14, 2027. There are no minimum nights and breakfast is not included, unfortunately.  If someone else wants to use their Marriott points or a use a third party, then they’d have to book outside the block. 

I looked into Amtrak and there is a 9:55am departure from LYH on Sunday, March 14, 2027 arriving Philadelphia at 4:32pm. Coach trip is $47 and business is $174 per person.  There is a 10% Senior discount. Return either Tuesday or Wednesday 2:18pm, arriving Lynchburg 8:54pm, $42 coach and $131 business. People would have to book that themselves online. There is a later train at 3:18pm that arrives Lynchburg at 10pm if that is one’s choice, especially if they want to return on Tuesday night rather than Wednesday. The Flower Show ticket prices are hard to tell because you can join the Philadelphia Horticultural Society for discounted tickets. https://phsonline.org/  Based on 2026 pricing, tickets area bout $45 per day and are discounted  to about $33 after 4pm for that day. Weekdays are cheaper and less crowded than weekends.
