Lynchburg's Historic Garden Week tour gives visitors access to four private homes and gardens, showcasing the city's Rivermont Historic District, as well as Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest, a National Historic Landmark and a Garden Club of Virginia restoration site, and the educational treasure of Camp Kum-Ba-Yah Nature Center. Just east of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Lynchburg tour combines old world charm with new conservation and horticultural practices to inspire and delight.

Lynchburg Garden Day: Ticket Information
Ticket includes admission to the following 4 private homes, Jefferson’s Poplar Forest, Camp Kum-Ba-Yah Nature Center, and access to the gardens at the Places of Interest.

$50 per person. Available at VAGardenWeek.org. Tickets may also be purchased in-person at The Farm Basket, George’s Seed, Feed & Grow, Overstreet Ace Hardware, Paisley’s, and Virginia Garden Supply. Children’s ticket are available for $15 (ages 5 to 17; under 5 free) online only at VaGardenWeek.org.
Day of Tickets
$60 per person. Available at VAGardenWeek.org. Tickets available at Camp KBY Nature Center and tour properties. $15 single-site tickets sold at properties.
Note
This is a park & walk tour; walking shoes recommended. The tour is not handicap accessible; however, drop off locations are available. Facilities are available at Camp KBY Nature Center.

11:00 AM & 2:00 PM: Dr. Eric Proebsting, Director of Archaeology & Landscapes, will be giving two behind-the-scenes tours of the Garden Club of Virginia landscape restoration projects.

1:00 - 4:00 PM: Jonathan Sledge, Certified Arborist, Above Ground Tree & Landscape: “Caring for Historic Trees”.

Hill City Master Gardeners will be available throughout the day in the interpretative herb and vegetable garden.

Complimentary shuttle between Jefferson’s Poplar Forest and Peakland United Methodist Church (4434 Boonsboro Road) on the hour.
Sweet Briar House

4:00 - 6:00 PM Enjoy Sweet Briar College Farm wines and celebrate the College’s 125th Anniversary in Daisy’s Garden at the Sweet Briar House, located 12 miles north of Lynchburg.

Sweet Briar House, on the National Register of Historic Places, is surrounded by a boxwood garden and Daisy’s Garden, which date to the 19th century. The Garden Club of Virginia restored the front arrival court and added to the original arboretum on the front grounds with native and exotic trees. The heart of the College’s campus includes 21 buildings that comprise a National Register Historic District.
Miller Claytor House & Garden

Located in Riverside Park, Lynchburg’s oldest existing house. Lynchburg Historical Foundation will be giving tours on Lynchburg Early City History and the History of the Miller-Claytor House.
